Remedy Confirms Control Resonant Post-Launch Development and Advances New Project
Remedy outlined its longer-term priorities in its January–September 2026 Business Review:“We have two established own franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Remedy will self-publish upcoming games, in which Remedy owns the IP. Growing and expanding the two franchises will be a key part of our future. In addition, we work with a partner franchise Max Payne, originally created by Remedy.”
Remedy’s development pipeline lists Control Resonant as being in “Post-launch development,” meaning additional content is on the way. The company hasn’t yet specified what players can expect, however.
An unnamed Remedy project has also advanced to “Production readiness,” putting it closer to full production. The business review doesn’t identify the game or confirm which franchise it belongs to, although Alan Wake is a strong possibility given Remedy’s stated ambitions. It’s also worth noting that Alan Wake 2 co-director Kyle Rowley’s LinkedIn profile currently lists him as co-director on an unnamed Remedy project.
Meanwhile, the Max Payne 1&2 remake remains in full production. Remedy is developing the two original games as a single remake project, and was first announced back in 2022 with Rockstar Games serving as publisher and funding development.
Although Remedy originally created Max Payne, the franchise’s intellectual property now belongs to Rockstar, which also published the original games. With Grand Theft Auto VI occupying Rockstar’s immediate release schedule, the remakes could become part of its subsequent lineup, although neither company has announced a release window.
Control Resonant’s Success Gives Remedy a Stronger Foundation for the Future
The latest pipeline update follows a successful launch for Control Resonant. Remedy confirmed that the game passed one million copies sold worldwide on October 15, just three weeks after its September 24 release, making it the fastest-selling title in the company’s history. Its reception has also been positive. The game received an 83 Metacritic score, an 8.8 user rating, a 91% positive Steam rating and an average PlayStation 5 user rating of 4.7/5, based on data from November 2. Nearly half of its players were new to the Control franchise. The original Control has also benefited from the sequel’s release, seeing a surge in sales and player numbers in the last month.
Not everything in Remedy’s portfolio is performing as well, however. FBC: Firebreak, the studio’s co-op shooter set within the Remedy Connected Universe, continues to struggle commercially. The business review notes that its sales are mainly originating from subscription service agreements, with total revenue during its second year on the market lower than earlier in its lifecycle.
Remedy also reported a quieter quarter for Alan Wake, although it continues to identify the franchise as a central part of its long-term strategy. With one unnamed game approaching production readiness and the Max Payne remakes progressing, Remedy’s next announcements should provide a clearer picture of how it intends to expand its two core franchises.
